Five Postdoctoral Fellowship Positions in Tourism Management at NWU TREES, South Africa

The Tourism Research in Economics, Environs and Society (TREES) unit at North-West University (NWU), South Africa, is inviting applications for five Postdoctoral Fellowship positions in Tourism Management, with a tax-free annual stipend of R320,000 and a three-year tenure commencing in September 2026.

TREES is a well-established research entity comprising an active community of researchers and postgraduate students, focused on advancing tourism knowledge that contributes to economic development, environmental sustainability, and societal well-being. The unit's research portfolio spans sustainable tourism, destination competitiveness, events, and other established domains within tourism management. The fellowships are three-year positions with the possibility of extension. The annual stipend of R320,000 is tax-free under South African postdoctoral fellowship regulations. Fellows are expected to contribute actively to the TREES research environment and to develop a publication record aligned with the unit's strategic research areas.

Applicants must hold a completed PhD in Tourism or a closely related field and demonstrate a strong research profile aligned with TREES's focus areas, including sustainable tourism, destination competitiveness, events, and the additional domains listed in the official call. Early-career researchers are particularly encouraged to apply.
