Call for Papers: ITSA 2026 Biennial Conference | Peking University, Beijing, 31 October–3 November 2026
June 21, 2026
The International Tourism Studies Association (ITSA) marks its 20th anniversary with the ITSA 2026 Biennial Conference, to be held at Peking University in Beijing, China, from 31 October to 3 November 2026. The paper submission deadline is 31 July 2026.
The conference theme, “From Bytes to Sites: AI-Driven Transformation and Place-Centered Experiences for Future Tourism,” frames the gathering as a forum for examining the intersection of artificial intelligence and place-based tourism experiences. The conference will bring together scholars, journal editors, policymakers, and industry professionals from across the world to address the opportunities and challenges posed by AI-driven transformation in tourism. Submissions are welcomed across a broad range of tourism, hospitality, and related disciplines.
Special conference features
ITSA 2026 includes several features beyond the standard paper presentation programme. A dedicated “Pitch & Polish: Meet the Editors” session will provide selected authors with live feedback from editors of leading tourism journals. Outstanding papers may also be considered for fast-track review by several partner journals. Accepted papers will be included in the ITSA 2026 Conference Proceedings (with ISBN), subject to author permission.
