Mid Sweden University is advertising two fully funded PhD positions in tourism studies, examining hybridisation in cultural heritage and tourism experiences. The positions are part of HERITOUR, an MSCA-Doctoral Network Fellowship project titled 'Enhancing collaborative synergies between Cultural HERItage and TOURism'.

The first position (DC1) focuses on hybridisation in cultural heritage and tourism along a digital-physical spectrum, examining how digital technologies and mediatisation affect creativity, tourist experiences, marketing, behaviour, co-creation, customer journeys, and presence. The position includes two secondments totalling three months, at Kalmar Castle in Sweden and Europa Nostra in Türkiye.

The second position (DC2) focuses on hybridisation for intersectoral collaboration in cultural heritage and tourism, exploring practices in local, hybrid, and online spaces. Specifically, it looks at stakeholders, networks, and relationships around competitiveness, commercialisation, marketing, authenticity, innovation, inclusivity, and longevity. Secondments include the Sámi Museum Gaaltije in Östersund, Sweden, and Europa Nostra in Türkiye.

Both positions involve independent third-cycle studies with 100% research, including a dissertation, alongside coursework, training schools, seminars, and HERITOUR events. The full HERITOUR programme offers 10 PhD positions across European universities.
