Call for Papers & Scholarships: GWTTRA 2026 | Reno, Nevada, 20–22 October 2026

The Greater Western Chapter of the Travel and Tourism Research Association (GWTTRA) invites academic faculty and graduate students to its Annual Conference, held at the Whitney Peak Hotel, a non-gaming hotel in Reno, Nevada, from 20 to 22 October 2026. The conference draws tourism researchers, destination marketing executives, and academics from the Western United States and beyond, and welcomes researchers from all universities.
Beyond the paper sessions, GWTTRA 2026 offers two further routes to take part: a new Student Immersion Program that introduces graduate students to the tourism research profession, and a small set of academic scholarships open to both faculty and students.

Faculty and graduate students can present, join the immersion programme, or apply for scholarship support.
- 1Present your researchAll topics reflecting scholarship in travel, tourism, and hospitality are welcome, theoretical or applied, with applied work that engages both practitioners and academics especially sought. Work in progress is welcome, and previously published or presented work is acceptable provided it is the author's own.
- 2Student Immersion ProgramA new programme introducing graduate students to the tourism research profession. Selected students receive complimentary registration and lodging support to attend and connect with researchers and industry professionals.
- 3Academic scholarshipsThree $200 scholarships support faculty and student participation. Applicants include a brief two-paragraph letter describing the support available through their university and how attending will aid their academic and professional development.
How to submit
Each submission includes two documents: a title page with the title, author names, and affiliations; and a main document without author names, running to 300 to 600 words excluding figures, tables, and references, in 12-point font, single or double spaced. Submissions are emailed to mjstone@csuchico.edu with the subject line "GWTTRA Submission". Work is presented in a coffee-break, online-poster setting designed for wide reach and active interaction, and a formal presentation can be arranged where a university requires one.
