The ENTER27 eTourism Conference, organised by the International Federation for IT and Travel & Tourism (IFITT), will take place in Madrid, Spain, from 12 to 16 January 2027. Submissions are now open across five formats, with deadlines ranging from September to November 2026.
ENTER27 seeks to advance scholarly dialogue on human-centered digital ecosystems in tourism, with particular attention to balancing technological innovation with responsibility and economic value for tourism stakeholders. The conference also encourages critical reflection on the development of new conceptual frameworks and methodological approaches to understanding the complex relationship between humans, technologies, and tourism systems.

The conference invites contributions across nine thematic areas covering the intersection of technology, tourism, and responsibility, including artificial intelligence, workforce transformation, governance, and methodological innovation.
Conference research themes
ENTER27 invites contributions on topics including, but not limited to, the following nine thematic areas.
- 1 Human-centered technology and AI in tourism Design, deployment, and evaluation of intelligent systems with a focus on human values, agency, and experience.
- 2 Economic impacts of AI and robotics Value creation, cost implications, and the economic consequences of automation across tourism and hospitality operations.
- 3 Inclusive and community-centered digital tourism Accessibility, equity, and the participation of local communities in the benefits of digital tourism development.
- 4 Ethics, trust, and governance in digital tourism systems Accountability mechanisms, ethical frameworks, and governance structures for technology deployment in tourism contexts.
- 5 Digital influence on tourist behaviour and experience How digital platforms, AI recommendations, and algorithmic curation shape decision-making and the tourism experience.
- 6 Intelligent systems and data-driven tourism services Applications of machine learning, big data, and real-time analytics to service design and operations.
- 7 Smart destinations and platform ecosystems Digital infrastructure, destination management systems, and the role of platform intermediaries in tourism value chains.
- 8 Workforce transformation in the age of AI Skills displacement, reskilling, and the evolving nature of hospitality and tourism labour in automated environments.
- 9 Methodological innovations in tourism research New conceptual frameworks, research designs, and computational methods for studying the human-technology-tourism nexus.
Submission formats and publication
ENTER27 accepts five submission types: full papers (up to 12 pages), working papers (up to 5 pages), conference presentations (up to 2 pages), posters and demos (A2 format), and research discussion proposals (1 page). Accepted full papers will be considered for publication in the Scopus-indexed conference proceedings published by Springer, expected by mid-2027. All submissions are made through EasyChair.

Each submission type has its own timeline. Dates below show the initial submission deadline; revised submission and final acceptance dates follow at four-week intervals for each track.
- 1 Full Papers Submit by 13 Sep 2026 Up to 12 pages. Initial acceptance: 15 October. Revised submission: 29 October. Final acceptance: 12 November 2026.
- 2 Working Papers Submit by 11 Oct 2026 Up to 5 pages. Initial acceptance: 5 November. Revised submission: 19 November. Final acceptance: 3 December 2026.
- 3 Conference Presentations, Posters & Demos, Research Discussions Submit by 11 Nov 2026 2 pages (presentations), A2 poster (posters/demos), or 1-page proposal (research discussions). Final acceptance: 10 December 2026.
