Postdoctoral Researcher: Sustainable Tourism Observatory, ATU Ireland

Atlantic Technological University (ATU) in Ireland is hiring a postdoctoral researcher to join the Sustainable Tourism Observatory Project (STORYATU). The position runs on a specific-purpose contract until 31 December 2027, with a salary scale of €46,805 to €53,391 (39 hours per week).
STORYATU hosts the Atlantic Sustainable Tourism Observatory Ireland, the country's only member of the UN Tourism International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories (INSTO). The team works closely with tourism destinations along the Atlantic coast, Ireland's islands, and heartlands, collecting data to inform sustainable change built on established sustainable tourism indicators.
The role involves working with academic staff, local communities, and enterprises at the destination level, contributing to publications and research funding applications, and supporting university-wide initiatives. Candidates should hold a PhD (or four years of full-time research) in social science, tourism, geography, sustainability, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and applied or community-based research.
